Outdoor Leadership Exploration

Outdoor Leadership is a really interesting exploration to learn as life experience. On the first day of learning in this class, I found out an answer to a question that I never think of before and the question “What does nature mean to me?” and this is what I wrote: 

My feeling less Max with stress, 

My heart got mess all around, 

I dream I’m drown in a nightmare, 

Stress is what I needed to share, 

On one would dare they will take, 

Expressing mind blind my fear, 

Anything that near cheer their happiness, 

I ask them how you don’t have stress? 

They said we express to nature, 

Relax is all meaning to me, 

If feeling free to me it’s nature,

Don’t you understand my bro and sister, 

Stressful won’t occur forever on one, 

Nature means to me is relaxing, 

Stress that coming won’t exist, 

Viewing all days may at least, Relax and breathe that the meaning.

This is a poem that written by me and I was so impressed that I could find out the answer to this question. This is exploration we also having trips that going outdoor. I spend those time wisely, because I didn’t want to leave all of those nature, all of those beautiful trees and waterfall and that trip have connected me with nature really well. Below will be all of my reflection from the trips and please take it seriously as you read along my words:

On thursday, an exploration called Outdoor Leadership have leaving the Liger campus to Kirirom National Park in Kampong Speu province. All of the stuffs set and everyone are good for the night. We went to a waterfall called the first waterfall. Quietly see the dark cloup that flying around the water. It was raining today and the nature are moisture with the wind blowing their leaves. Many people are visiting this place and most of them are playing with water and having fun together. The waterfall was great and peaceful and the water are flowing around, some of them are flowing between rocks and some are not. Water was really cold that it can make me freeze, even there is sunlight but the wind just defeat their strongness and the day become really cold. Along the road we can see a lot of pine tree and insects over there. It’s really tired to hike, but nature just release tiredness all from me. An earthworm that as big as a snake is incredible, but I saw two of those. It’s big and long and they look a little bit scary when their body stuck with dust. If watching waterfall all day it could by my passion and all the thing around I could imagine more than it does. This trip make me feel a lot of fun and along tired, but it can’t gave me up.

Argumentative Essay

On the second round of the year 2018-2019 in the Liger Leadership Academy, we are having a really cool topic for this round to be learning about. Our theme for this round is about argumentative essay which we will be writing an essay that can be augmenting. In a essay, we need to have the Hook, Background Information, Idea Development & Support(sources) and Conclusion at last. I have been working so hard on this essay because to finish this essay, it might take me a lot of time in order to make this essay perfectly. My topic that I chosen is about gender equality. This topic is very stressful for me but because of my interested it prevent me a way to get out of my comfort zone. I have found out that gender equality is a really interesting topic for me to write it out. Even though I haven’t finish this essay yet, but you will see it in the next post which is the post after round three.

English Literacy

Environment Injustice/Pollution

We been learning about Environment Injustice/Pollution and we also having the reflection after this lesson and these are the words that I would want to share with you all:

          Air pollution is still a problem that most of the place have. Burning plastic is a really huge cause of air pollution. In my community there are a lot of trash bin and people are starting to keep their trash until there is a lot of trash and they burn it once. There was one day that a lot of kid get sick because of breathing the polluted air into their body and after that many of the villager are starting to reduce using place and burning plastic. Even Though they do that but there still a lot of plastic got burn and used. Many kids got polluted by the environment and it is unjust for them. When the technology growing higher pollution in the world are also grow as high as technology. Even some of the organization that already know what have happened in my community, they haven’t care about that yet. To stop this problem in my community, wee all together must have to stop burning plastic first after we stop using plastic instead.

          Water pollution is a really huge pollution exist in Cambodia. Many people are throwing trash into the water, many boats and ship are transporting oil from place to place and when the oil spills into the ocean or water resources many fish and living organism in the water will died property. Ocean is one of my favorite place to visit and many tourism are also like to hangout along the beach. If the sea’s water isn’t clean and contain a lot of trash and oil and many fish died over there do you think that they want to come and see again? No ways. When the tourist are getting low in that place people who make the business near that dirty ocean such as seller and many more businesses, their economic will getting lower and lower as the tourist getting low too.

Photography

On the second round, Multimedia/Technology essential was focusing on photography. My passion isn’t really like photography, but after talking this lesson I felt that photography is a really interesting topic to learn. 

Camera Settings(3 things in that effect exposure)

           Shutter speed is a setting in the camera that affects how motion is captured. Shutter speed is one of me favorite setting in the camera because I really like talking photo of people playing sports and a lot of action happened during talking the photos. Shutter speed help me a lot of talking the photos while people are doing some action as an example like running or playing soccer.

          Aperture is mostly talking about size of opening in the lens through which light enters the camera. 

          ISO is the last camera setting that effect exposure. ISO is a setting that showing how sensitive your camera is to light and the higher the ISO, the more sensitive the camera is to light (so photo is brighter).

Mathematics

Finishing level 5A

Primary Mathematics is our workbook and student book to learn in the Mathematics essential. We have started from level 4A to 4B and we are now working on 5A. We started to learn level 5A at the beginning of the third year(August 2018) of the school academic. It is now November 2018 and we are on the last lesson on the book. I feel really surprise I worked on this book for only 4 months. You might think that 4 months is long, but for me it is not I just open my eyes and close my eyes back and I just finish the 5A and I want to say that I really appreciate myself that I can finish a whole math book in 4 months.

Khmer

Khmer Literacy is one of my favorite essential class that ever exist in my life. My dad and my mom are both Khmer teacher and I am so interested in Khmer Literacy because I giant a lot of passion and history from Khmer Literacy a lot by the way.

Khmer Poem 

On the third year of learning in the Liger Leadership Academy, our Khmer Literacy teacher has an idea of making a Khmer Poem book. All of the junior students must have at least on poem in the book and all of us has divided many types of Khmer Poem each and started to write it individually or team as we want to do. I have completed two of the poem and I feel that all of my poem are so powerful as my teacher and I think. All of my friends have completed at least one poem and all of those are excellent work.

STEM

In the Liger Leadership Academy, there is an essential that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math(STEM). In this round, Junior students have been working on the periodic table in STEM class and I am so excited to learn with those interesting lesson and understanding how elements work scientifically. 

Periodic table 

Periodic table was a really interesting topic for me to learn and I feel really passionate about this lesson as my facilitator have explain and did some experiments during this class. For this topic, I can also catch up the lesson quickly because all of the content are so excited for me. In the periodic table we have been learning about its group and period and the history of the periodic table including the purpose of making the periodic table. Periodic table are so hard to organize, but when we know how it work it will be really easy for us to understand the periodic table. Dmitri Mendeleev was a teacher Russian as well as a chemist and Mendeleev has been creating a chemistry textbook and he was having a problems with organizing elements and he needed a way to organized the elements to make the students easier to learn about chemistry. By 1860s, Mendeleev has made a set of card that have the name of the elements, atomic mass and known properties. He arranged and arranged the card in many different ways and finally he found it when he placed the elements in order by atomic mass. Elements in the periodic table are organized by its atomic number now, because during the 1860s, scientist cannot recognize the atomic number of elements, but they can recognize the atomic mass of an element.

Multimedia/Technology

Programming

          Programming must be the process of talking the algorithm and also encoding it into the notation. Programming have many different types of computers exist, but it must be have the solution. Computer science is not the study of programming, however it related to computer scientist does.

Algorithm 

         Programming is also include math. Algorithm is the strategy or rule of solving problem that mostly for computer. Algorithms can perform calculation, data processing and automated reasoning tasks. The concept of algorithm has existed for centuries and the use of the concept can be ascribed to Greek mathematicians (the sieve of Eratosthenes and Euclid algorithm). This is my challenge for you as the reader in my portfolio. Please find the sun from 1 to 2000 and the this is the clue “DO IT RIGHT!”. 

Divide and Conquer

          There are 1 million box with the same side and weight and all of them looking the same, there is a frog that died in one of the box and those box is a really important box for your family. How can you find the frog and knowing which box does the frog is? This is easy if you know the answer. Divide and Conquer is finding the answer by asking smaller questions from the big question and find the answer to smaller questions and end with the answer to big question. This is an example for Divide and Conquer: It was 10 minutes to midnight on December 24th, and all was not well at the North Pole. Some little elves were wrapping 1024 toys for 1024 good girls and boys. At 5 minutes to midnight, the elves called Santa Claus to tell him the boxes had been filled extra quickly, and Santa Claus was getting ready to leave. And this is the answer: 

  • First I’m going to weight each boxes and for the example: if one boxes is 1 kg and 1024 box it equal to 1024 kg.
  • Second I’ll take 512 boxes and weight it and if that 512 boxes equal of 512 kg which mean that the other 512 boxes is containing the dirty sock
  • Repeat the second step again and again then you will get the answer.

   Your challenge is to solve the problem above that I said at first!
